Welcome to our web site
Whether you are looking to visit our services, find out more about what we do and the God we believe in, coming to find out more about a wedding or baptism, are a researcher for your family history - or are just looking out of curiosity you’re very welcome.
We are a church that exists to live out our faith in our community, to share that faith with any who would like to find out more and to support those who have particular needs. We believe God is important for our daily lives and everything we do is to build ourselves and others up to enjoy the “abundant life” that Jesus promised.
We serve the area from Dalton out through Kirkheaton, Gawthorpe and Houses Hill to Grange Moor. Our aim in everything we do is to 'Bring God's love into the heart of the community', to each and every person we are in touch with.
We hope this web site will give you some idea about us and what we do. Please feel free to ask questions, either through the web site or by contacting us directly.
Whatever your age or background, and wherever you feel you are on your own spiritual journey, we hope that you will feel welcome.

POWER in Kirkheaton Parish
In Kirkheaton Parish, we take prayer very seriously, because we believe that God moves in response to his children seeking him in prayer. And because we want as many people as possible in our parish to come to know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour, we pray for that - week in and week out. Our main weekly time of prayer takes place every Wednesday. We call it POWER, which stands for 'Prayer On Wednesday Enabling Revival'. At St Bartholomew's, Grange Moor, POWER takes the form of a half-hour prayer meeting at the church every Wednesday at 11.30 am. At Kirkheaton Parish Church, POWER lasts six hours, from 3 pm to 9 pm. Attenders can come at any point in those six hours, for however long (or little) they want. Whilst there, they can engage in a whole range of prayer activities, including a silent prayer zone, a painted prayer table, a written prayer table, a prayer-map, a prayer-station area and a chant-prayer zone. Those who wish to can go on a prayer-walk around part of the parish at 7 pm, and the session closes at 8.30 pm with a half-hour prayer meeting.
Members of the two worship centres of the parish (St Bartholomew's, Grange Moor, and St John the Baptist's, Kirkheaton) are strongly encouraged to attend POWER each Wednesday to pray that more and more people in the parish will come to know Jesus as Lord, and that as a result God's church in the parish will grow.
People in the parish who are not attenders at St Bartholomew's or St John's are also most welcome to come to either church during that church's POWER time (St Bartholomew's, 11.30-12 noon; St John's, 3-9 pm), to say a prayer for themselves, their families and friends, or for any situation that is troubling them. Someone will be there to look after them and sit with them if they wish.
