Wedding

We are glad you are thinking of holding your wedding at one of our churches. We want this to be as special a time for you as you want for yourselves and we will do all we can to guide you and help you to prepare.

The Rector or Curate will be happy to talk to you at any time. Once you are booked in there will also be a couple of evenings preparation, and then time privately with the person taking your service to talk through all the details.

As soon as you have a date in mind please do contact us.

If you have not already done so, why not have a look at the Church of England’s Wedding Planner? There you can look at things like hymns and readings, read of the experience of other couples and even create a draft order of service.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Technicalities

You are able to marry here if you live in our Parish (if you are not sure just visit A Church Near You and put in your Post Code to check) or if you have what is called a ‘Qualifying Connection.’ You have this if you can show:-

That one of you:

has at any time lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or

was baptised in the parish concerned or

was prepared for confirmation in the parish or

has at any time regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months

That one of your parents, at any time after you were born:

has lived in the parish for a period of at least 6 months or

has regularly gone to normal church services in the parish church for a period of at least 6 months

That one of your parents or grandparents:

    was married in the parish

And have moved into our Parish, you’re immediately connected to us, there is no minimum time of residence.
