Readers and other Clergy


‘Readers’ are church members licensed to lead services and preach. We also have retired clergy who are part of our parish ministry team. These are some of the people you may see leading our worship and preaching, although there are others. This page introduces you to them.


Karen Atkinson (Reader)

Karen is Assistant Head &  Lower Foundation Co-ordinator of Honley Infant and Nursery School. She also leads our 'Krash Kids' group on a Friday evening and is involved with Baptism preparation and 'Families@4.30' and other children's work.


Sue Brew (Reader)

Sue is married to Phil (see below). As well as work within our churches they are involved with Destitute Asylum Seekers in Huddersfield (DASH)


Nigel Codman (Reader)

Nigel works for a specialist financial company. He has revived the Parish Panto and plays the Dame, as well as Directing.


Wylva Raby (Reader)

Wylva is a long-standing member of the church with a widespread ministry (she is also a Pastoral Minister). She is the Co-ordinator for our work among older people.


Bill Weston (Reader Emeritus)

Bill, with his wife Judith (see below) spends some of his time in England and some in Madeira, where they are part of the team at the Anglican church in Funchal.

Bill formerly held a senior position in the Probation Service.



The Revd Phil Brew (Retired)

Phil was formerly a Vicar in the Manchester area. Although retired Phil is actively involved in our and other local churches.


The Revd Bryan Short (Retired)

Bryan trained as an 'Ordained Local Minister' after retiring as a Maths teacher. Until he retired (for the second time!) at 70 he had Pastoral responsibility for our daughter church, St Bartholomew's, Grange Moor. He continues to regularly lead services in the parish as well as elsewhere in the Deanery


The Revd Chris Shedd (Retired)

Chris retired as Vicar of Low Moor, Bradford at Christmas 2013 and joined the team here when she moved into Kikrheaton.


The Revd Judith Weston (Retired)

Judith was formely Hospital Chaplain at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. She also has a ministry of Spiritual Direction.
